The Mouse and the Moon

Recommended Posts

He dreamed a dream in time gone by,

When cheese was cheap

And bread worth eating

He dreamed that nuts would always keep

He dreamed that Cat would be forgiving

Then he was young and unafraid

And cheese was ate and pooed and wasted

There were no crackers to be had

No snacks untried, no cheese untasted

mousea.jpg

But the children came at night

With their voices soft as thunder

As they eat the larder bare

And they turn your feast to nought!

mouseb.jpg

He took a pencil in his paw

He filled balloons with lungs a-straining

He took the deepest breath you ever saw

And he was gone into the night!

mousec.jpg

And still he dreams he'll meet the moon

That they will live the years together

But there are dreams that cannot be

And outer-space he could not weather

He had a dream his life would be

So different from this hell he's living

Endless floating, so it seems

Now space has killed the dream he dreamed.

What a lovely MOC SlyOwl. And I'm surprised it comes from a blood-and-gore lover like you.

The apple core is amazing and the third picture is great. I really like the scale at which you've built the surroundings.

He dreamed a dream in time gone by,

:sing: Image of Susan Boyle comes to mind. Make it go away...

What a lovely little story. It's nice to see something dreamy like this for a change - thanks, SlyOwl! I love the balloons, sash window and drainpipe scene.

:sing: Image of Susan Boyle comes to mind. Make it go away...

I've got the original London Cast Recording version going through my mind - much more serene. Miserables ON!

I found it quite moving... but it's not everyone's taste

Miserables ON!

I'm a big fan too

Fantastic work SlyOwl! Clear storytelling, and the sense of scale is pulled off excellently, especially in the last scene.

Did you write the poem?

Brilliant work Sly.

The pencil, the window, the curtains, the swing set, the apple core, the knife in the knife block(?) the candle (especially like the glow around the candle), awwwww all so awesome and so very clever.

Really well done Sly, my favourite is the last scene. I thought at first the building was pictured outside, well done.

Thanks again :classic:

Did you write the poem?

Yes, although it's just a parody of I dreamed a dream from Les Miserables, so it wasn't too difficult.

The knife in the knife block(?)

Yeah, it came out smaller than it should have - lack of brown!
