From LEGO.com about this newest set!

Deep below the surface on his turbine-powered super scooter, the heroic diver must capture the trident-equipped Shark Warrior before he can take the blue Atlantis treasure key. Will the scooter's dual harpoon shooter be enough to defeat this fearsome monster?

Set Name: 8057 Wreck Raider

Theme: Atlantis

Released: 2010

Pieces: 64

Price: $14.99/$9.60EURO/8.14GBP

Box front

Very well done. Everything is shown on a closeup view. I do like the design.

Box rear

Yup. You can see how the fans can rotate to help on getting a quick turn on things. The back also shows you how the flick-fire harpoons work. I like how the diving gear fits on the minifig. It slips on versus something that requires the head to be removed and seated on. Like the old scuba tanks.

Front of manual

Nothing special. It's the duplicate of the box cover.

Parts list

Part number 4251563 is something I don't see much of. It fits on the underside of 4566849.

Random page in the manual.

Many small Atlantis sets coming out for its first year. I guess they want to make sure everybody has a chance to buy something without costing a arm and a leg. Then again, if you bought it during Christmas at TRU, it still cost you a Arm.

Sticker sheet

I think they did well with the stickers. Pretty much all the stickers ared wisely. Only thing I wish they didn't do was include bubbles for the vents. That means I couldn't use it for anything but underwater. Oh. The red matched perfectly with the red of the Lego. Looks good.

Parts bags

4208624833_8b20988c64.jpg

Wow. Two whole bags. Not much to see here. I'm not even sure what determines what makes a piece a Lego be in one bag versus the other bag.

Extra Parts

4212505250_973fe03f43.jpg

Wow. Only two pieces this time.

The Build process

I like how the middle swoops over the front. Gives it a "retro" look for some reason. As some pointed out, I'm not sure if I like how the 1x2 grey pieces face sideways on the back. Doesn't match too well. But I guess this was the easiest way to add the fans that can rotate. See the final picture below.

Here is the final shot of the Raider. Looks very cool and it looks like it would work underwater. Still, the way they stuck on the handlebar, if the diver is wearing his fins, he can't stand or sit well. But I guess when you watch those undersea documentaries, the divers put the vehicles in the water and pretty much just hang on to them to be pulled along underwater.

Side view

Here you can see the harpoons and the fans/ Strong forward thrust. I hope he never gets in front of the fan. There's not grill to cover the fans. He'll be chopped up!

Mini fig diver and Atlantian(I think)

Oh I so much like the diver. That tank and diver outfit looks so good. The shark on the other hand, reminds me of a shark on a old Scooby Doo cartoon.

Comments

This was a good set. At first, I didn't think any of the Atlantis sets was going to be worth it. But as the sets are slowly coming out, some look good. Like this one. Only thing I didn't like was the price I had to pay for it.

My rating:

Playability: 5/5. This set is very playable. It was made for kids to pretend with. Nothing breaks apart that you wouldn't know where it would go if it came off.

Design: 3/5. It's designed well. Personally I didn't like the stickers with the bubbles. And the two 1x2 pieces that face sideways look out of place.

Build experience: 1/5. Nothing hard. All parts fit together easy. Only thing is you might need help with the stickers if you want them on straight. And because some of the stickers have lines on them, you can tell if you put them on crooked

Overall: 4/5. It's NOT worth $14.99 I paid. But it's worth it if you can get it for MSRP. The minifigs are awesome. And I know my son would have fun playing with it. My son will be getting one for Christmas.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed it!

Aargh! I wish you all would stop taunting me with reviews of this set. I wanted my grandma to get it for me, but the local TRU was out of them.

Anyway, your review had something the other two haven't had, and that was build shots. I know it's not complex at all, but I still think that build shots are interestings, so thanks for them.

NP. That's what I'm known for when I do reviews. :)

I just hope she or you have to pay $14.99 like I did. My son had better like his for Christmas.
