WesternOutlaw Posted January 3, 2009 Thanks for sharing Aalya. I saw the set at my local Target a few days ago, but have not picked it up yet. I love the bench. It's really nice to see Lego offering these little "classic-style" sets again. My only complaint is the stickers. - still a great set! BLOGGED!
General Armendariz Posted January 3, 2009 I have this set also. I love the new street signs!
BlueBard Posted January 4, 2009 I badly need that set x2! Unfortunately, I'm in Spain and I'll have to wait at least until February to have it...
Dennimator Posted January 4, 2009 Nice review. You´re lucky to get the set for only $6. I badly need that set x2! Unfortunately, I'm in Spain and I'll have to wait at least until February to have it... If you really want the sets, I can buy them for you. Shipping from Sweden to Spain is not so expensive, probably around $3 without the boxes. PM me if you are interested.
posades Posted January 4, 2009 I like the figs as well, but the stickers are a deal breaker for me. If I see it on sale somewhere I'll pick it up, but otherwise I'm in no rush.
mania3 Posted January 6, 2009 I have this set but I've yet to put it together. Thanks for the neat review while I wait for a chance to bust it open.

I really appreciate your help but I'm going to have a LOT of exams this January so I'll be a bit busy and I can wait until February. Thank you very much anyway! Moreover I've recently discovered a little Lego specialist seller at ten minutes from my job and I've made some reservations yet (The 2009 City Advent Calendar for example! )
Hewman Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) People are bagging the stickers (probably justifiably) but it does have one great consequence, the price of the 2x2 white triangle signs that are used in the star wars snowspeeders will drop considerably. Only two sales had been made on bricklink over 6 months and one was for $11 US each! And whoops, forgot to say thanks for the very nice review! Omega 8 Posted January 6, 2009 Thanks for the review! Got this for my daughter for Christmas. She loves it. We'll probably get a couple more to beef up the minifig ranks.
Eilif Posted January 6, 2009 I'm torn regarding this set. It's a nice way to get the somewhat rare blonde pony tail and Classic space logo jacket, but everything else outside of the street signs is awfully common. None of the other parts are new or rare, and if there's one thing that most LEGO fans (even kids) already have, it's plenty of police officers. This is one of the best examples of a set where an AFOL's collection could render this a "must buy" or a "why bother".

IMO, this set would still be good without the police officer at all, although I agree that it would've been much better with a different minifig. There isn't exactly much to police in the set, so it would've been nicer to see another civilian minifig or a repair plumber for the fire hydrant instead. Yeah, LEGO calls him a delivery man in this set. The logo on the jacket is the Classic Space logo. I think it's an interesting reuse of a LEGO symbol that most AFOL's associate with a very different product line from a bygone age. In the grand tradition of parts reuse, over the past 6 years that particular torso has appeard as a motorcycle rider, a plane and train passenger, a skateboarder, and now a courier A plumber with a wrench would have been a great choice to replace the policeman. In the end, I'll probably pick this set up, if only to get the tan pony tail (rogue shadow is the only other current set with it) the signs, and the rest of the relatively usefull minifigs. mania3 Posted January 8, 2009 Yeah, the Classic Space logo jacket has made a few unexpected appearances over the years. The first one I got was in the 7993 - Service Station and I almost did a double take when I saw the jacket up close. I'm happy to have more though, especially in a set which I might be likely to purchase several times over.
hollisbrick Posted January 15, 2009 Saw this at K-mart the other day and I was quite tempted to buy it Probably will in time, also I like the inclusion of the space tag
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 15, 2009 (edited) Thank you very much for that great review, aayla-secura! It's a great set whith very nice minfigs and a lot of great additional stuff - and a female minifig included! The only thing which I really do not like is that the street signs aren't printed but have stickers on them. That would make it very expensive when you'd like to add street signs to every street crossing and every zebra crossing. I bought one exemplar last week and I'll surely buy another next week. But surely not. But this set is great nevertheless! Klaus-Dieter Edited January 15, 2009 by Klaus-Dieter
