My Hogwarts

Recommended Posts

As I said in an earlier topic, my project for this fall was a dollhouse-style version of LEGO Hogwarts, which I used in a comic I made for my boyfriend's Harry Potter -fansite. Well, it's been finished for some time now, and I'm here to present you with delicious pictures of my biggest creation yet!

Here's the general overview of my Hogwarts, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry:

And now for the best part: it really opens up like a dollhouse!

hogwarts18.jpg

And it has a furnished interior with easy access, too!

hogwarts19.jpg

An even larger picture!

Now onto the details (note that the characters and the settings are from Harry's sixth year in the shool, depicted in the book Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince):

The Owlery with Luna Lovegood riding a thestral, and the hippogriff Buckbeak on the background.

hogwarts16.jpg

The Astronomy Tower with Professor Sinistra.

hogwarts20.jpg

Madam Hooch, the Quidditch coach, on the roof chatting with Professor Dumbledore, the headmaster.

hogwarts21.jpg

Dumbledore's office with Fawkes the Phoenix, and the jester-clad Peeves the Poltergeist.

hogwarts22.jpg

The Ravenclaw tower with the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw, and the student Cho Chang.

hogwarts23.jpg

Upper floor: Charms lesson taught by the minuscule Professor Flitwick, and the house ghost of Ravenclaw called Grey Lady hovering in the corridor next to. Lower floor: the library with Irma Pince and Hermione Granger, and the hospital wing with nurse Poppy Pomfrey.

hogwarts24.jpg

Upper floor: Room of Requirements, a random wizard, and the hidden staircase to Dumbledore's office. Lower floor: Transfiguration class lead by Professor MacGonagall, and History of Magic lesson with the ghostly Professor Binns.

hogwarts25.jpg

The entrance hall with Hagrid and the janitor Argus Filch. To the left are the doors leading to the Great Hall. Also note the chalices that count House Points to the four houses of Hogwarts students above the doors.

hogwarts26.jpg

The Defense Against Dark Arts class, with the infamous Professor Snape finally teaching it. At the front row we have the Slytherin girls Pansy Parkinson and Millicent Bulstrode.

hogwarts27.jpg

Here's the private dungeon of the Slytherin, along with our antagonist Draco Malfoy and his henchmen Crabbe and Goyle - not forgetting the Bloody Baron, the house ghost of Slytherin.

hogwarts28.jpg

There's also a secret passage leading outside in the dungeon.

This is the Potions class, with it's previously retired teacher Horace Slughorn on the reigns. There's also a closet with an extensive collection of potions that are unfortunately poorly pictured.

hogwarts35.jpg

And here is the aforementioned Great Hall, with the twins Padma and Parvati Patil enjoying a fiest just by themselves. Below the hall is of course the kitchens, with the house-elves Dobby and Winky hard at work.

hogwarts30.jpg

Next to the kitchens is the Hufflepuff common rooms, with their house ghost, the Fat Friar, guarding it's entrance. Above it is the courtyard, with the Herbs teacher Professor Sprout and a mandragora, and Neville Longbottom chasing his beloved toad Trevor.

hogwarts31.jpg

Above the courtyard is the abandoned girl's bathroom that has an entrace to the Chamber of Secrets. There's the ghost Moaning Myrtle crying in the bathroom, and Ginny Weasley listening outside. Above them is the Gryffindor Tower, with the house ghost Nearly Headless Nick, and our heroes Harry Potter and Ron Weasley.

hogwarts34.jpg

Here's Harry and Ron's bedroom, and in the next tower, the Divination class with Professor Trelawney and the student Lavender Brown. And on top of the tower, Harry's dear owl Hedwig.

hogwarts33.jpg

That concludes our tour around the Hogwarts. I tried my best to include all the major characters and rooms of the castle, so I hope you enjoyed what you saw! Comments and feedback is always welcome!

Thats amazing!

It seems you put alot of work into that.

There is great detail in every room.

I see you went with mostly yellows with one tan.

Maybe you should have some kind of game topic were you have to locate the eurobricks sig figs.

Are you planning to add on to that if any half blood prince sets come out?

Continue blowing us away with your amazing mocs.

Actually, this building ate almost all tan pieces I own - most of which I got from the Harry Potter sets I bought from Ebay (check the first link on the first post to see them). That's why I had to put dark grey on the upper floors, having built it from the base up.

Because I have quite a limited amount of bricks in my possession, I unfortunately have to dismantle this creation very soon, too. :sceptic:

Woah! That's really fantastic. It has such a great build with great ideas, and fantastic figures of the characters. And this Hogwarts has a high playability-rate, that's awesome. What a shame you have to break it down, but that's the purpose of LEGO, right. You've done your best on this creation, and what a lovely details everywhere. Great!

:sweet:

I don´t think Jabba will be very happy... Maybe time for another whacking?

Very impressive, Sandy! So many details... and it opens up, which is very cool. It's very big, too. Perhaps you should add a forbidden forest or the Quittich (spelling?) field, if you have any bricks left.

A very impressive work indeed. You did a wonderful job with including so many famous scenarios

to a very fine, detailed and neat looking Hogwarts, it´s amazing! But of course, although your

building´s really large and very well done most rooms look still a bit cramped. But well, Hogwarts

is just too enormous anyways and to represent it properly would need a layout twice or better thrice

as big than yours I guess... so in the end your scheme´s a nearly perfect compromise, and

a pretty clever and inspiring MOC for sure.

Hey, I'm not miniscule! Your all just too tall!

Really wonderful Hogwarts there, I can only think of two indoor places missing; Chamber of Secrets and the third floor corridoor. You should consider doing the Hogwarts Mafia that I was going to do!

Thanks! I had the intention of doing those missing places (I even have the official sets for them), but I ran out of pieces, quite frankly. That's why the castle is a big mishmash of tan and different shades of grey.

Uh, no Mafia-games for me. I'm more of a storytelling kind of gal.

Wow Thats awesome! How long did it take to build it?

A week or so, although I planned it much earlier and had visions of it haunting my dreams well before I started the actual construction. It didn't quite turn out what I had envisioned - for the aforementioned lack of pieces as well as lack of imagination and technique - , but I'm still very satisfied with the outcome.

Alas, the castle is now long gone, all pieces sorted back to the boxes where they belong...

Great job Sandy. I kept looking at each pic and I kept thinking ooh, and oh, and oh yeah. There is so much going on there. I am sure in person, people can look at it for much longer. Thanks for posting the pics.

I am not a Harry Potter Fan, but I would buy one of these if they were for sale in stores (and i had the money).

I shouldn't show this pictures my sister, she would just get jealous. (sending pics to my sister)
