Dragon Masters Kingdom Overview Part 2

Characters (cont.)

Dragons

In this world, there are three distinct breeds of dragons, they are: Draco Migrus, Draco Famen, and Draco Creber. The Migrus is the most common dragon, with the males usually being Black and the females usually being green (these are the 'classic' dragons). The Creber is the next common, and vary in a range of colours (these are the current castle line dragons). Finally there are the Famen, a much rarer seen breed, and definitely the most clever. They have the fieriest of tempers, but also the most caring natures. They usually handle the affairs of the dragons with 'outsiders'. In appearance, they can often look very different, some smaller, some bigger, depending on what line they come from (lines will be explained at a later date when you need to know more about the dragons). Although some of these dragons are more common than others, dragons in general are not a huge race, and are infrequently seen.

Ragnir is the only dragon you have met so far, other than Blazewing. Ragnir is from the Famen breed, and is a fairly young dragon, only recently reaching his years of transgression (113 years). He is seen to be an old friend of Dragonator's, a friendship that has not yet been explained. He is the son of Fafnir (father) and Minrogg (mother), and has a younger brother called Nidhogg (aged 97). His past is as yet unknown.

Around the Castle

Listed here are some of the character seen around the castle (please note that this is not everyone, more will be added in Part 3):

Galcor is Grim's right hand man. (Grim being Captain of Dragonator's personal Bodyguard). He is the one that usually stands around in the background, watching his masters back, as Grim is quite often of doing jobs of one kind or another. He is a quiet sort who takes his job very seriously. He was born as the second son in the Manock family, an aristocratic family with a small amount of influence within the Keep. As is the custom of the time, as the second son, he was sent into the Army as an officer, a lieutenant. After the war, he was not content to stay in the army, after witnessing the tactics of Lord Dragonator, and immediately applied to join his bodyguard, so as he could learn Dragonator's strategies, reasoning that you could never be to old to learn. He was accepted, and Dragonator often discusses with him various plans or battle tactics he is thinking on, asking the mans' opinion while at the same time teaching him. Galcor is a devoted student and loyal protector, who would give his life for his master. He is now aged 41.

Picture:

galcor.jpg

Mark the Driver, is Mike's twin brother and is the Keeps head driver. He is happy to serve the Dragon Masters, holds no loyalties other than to his kingdom, and is a generally good natured fellow. He is reliable, and will always pick out the right route to get you to where you need to go.

Picture:

mark_the_driver.jpg

Countess Margaretta, is the wife of Councilor Rotrigous. She is just as nasty as her husband, and takes delight in watching the poor servants struggle in their work, and also in causing others pain. She is always up to some sort of mischief in the Keep, whether it be taunting the servants or planning out her latest trick to play on her next victim. As it is the Summer, she is currently visiting her niece, Princess Ariana, up in the Palace at Hamenwear, where she spends her time making the Princess's life hell.

Picture:

countess_margaretta.jpg

Cyprox, the historian. He is an elderly man, who has dedicated his life to writing a complete history of the Dragon Masters Kingdom. Nobody knows if he will finish before he dies, but he is well respected and is sought after for his wisdom. He is a good friend of Princess Ariana, but does not like to get caught up in the politics of the kingdom. He mostly keeps to himself in his tower room in the Palace in Hamenwear.

That concludes Part 2, Part 3 will have more characters and perhaps some more reference material. I haven't quite had enough time to add as many characters to this one as I would have liked, so they will be in there somewhere too.

Until next time,

Name: Khamul

Age: 37

Background: Khamul grew up in a small village near the Orc-Undead border. His village was very poor and had to rely on the help of their Undead neighbours to survive. Despite the poverty, Khamul showed great talent in swordfighting at an early age, and fast rose through the ranks in his tribe, becoming a captain of a small group of Orcs by 18. However, soon after, the Orc-Troll-Goblin Civil War broke out, in which Khamul's tribe joined the Troll loyalists. The whole of the Orclands was engulfed in vicious fighting. In one such battle, Khamul single-handedly fought a giant Troll, which, although he killed, managed to rip his left leg off in the process. Soon the Orc loyalists gained the upper hand, and defeated both the Troll and Goblin loyalists. Khamul, threatened with exile, escaped off to the Southern Orclands, a rowdy place full of cut-throats, gamblers and theives. And that was just the women. There he befriended a short little Orc who had just joined the navy. Khamul went with him, and together they sailed the seas, looting and plundering their foes.

Eventually, however, he managed to become a sailor for the Orc navy, one of the strongest in the South - although he was sitll laughed at by the other sailors. There was one man that did treat him with respect however..

Name: Admiral Gerarkh

Age: 57

Background: Gerarkh was born in the Orc capital to a wealthy family. Although he was lame, he was notably smarter than your average Orc. He had developed a strong interest in ships ever since he was a child, and got poorer Orcs to stage naval battles in front of him for money. By the time he was 37, he had become the captain of his own ship, then captain of two, then three, then four.. Gerarkh was a tactical genious, although his lame arm kept him from doing any fighting. Under his guise, the Orc navy became the most feared in all of the South. However, while he was off fighting raiding the Elf coastline, his wife died, and Gerarkh became sticken with grief, and took a break from his seafaring ways for a year. When he returned to his job, his mind remained clouded and he found himself making more and more errors in battle. To make things worse, a young upstart named Krult had quickly established himself as a great seafarer, perhaps even better than Gerarkh. Gerarkh grew more and more insane by the day, often seen trying to smash holes in his deck and having friendly conversations with his whip. His antics resulted in the loss of all his ships but one. And it is here that the story begins..

Name: Princess Diana Mac Arthur

Type: Human

Alignment: Earth

Age: 21

Faction: Black Knights Kingdom

Weapon: Crossbow Gaia (Known to have Earth magic infused in it) and Seth Lance (Little is unknown about this weapon. Rumor to be handed down from a secluded Sage Seth)

Defence Equipment: Ranger Robe.

Steed: 'Jessie', her personal steed.

Background: Born in the realms of Black Knights Kingdom, Diana was the third child of the Royal Family of Mac Arthur. Since young, her beliefs and thoughts always clash with the Royal Family values. Diana did not behave like a princess and is always out in the forest. She was trained in the School of Knights, hoping to be a commander. But that was a failure. She did not complete the training because there was no strong interest in it. Instead, her love for nature is very strong and intends to pursuit her dreams at any cost, including leaving the kingdom for 3 years. Little is known about her during the past 3 years. Visible signs showed she spend most of her time in the Forestmen’ forest and Elves. Her weapons, including Seth Lance proved that Sage Seth had crossed her path in the journey.

Dragon Masters Kingdom Overview Part 3

Characters (cont.)

First, some updated pictures of General Marcus and Councillor Scorpia, with their capes:

Councillor Scorpia:

And General Marcus:

general_marcus_w_cape_front.jpg

general_marcus_w_cape_back.jpg

Dragons

I gave you all general information last time, however there is one more character that needs to be added:

Baby Nizbit is a two month old baby dragon from the famen breed, son of Blazewing (father) and Gembal (mother). He is a playful little rogue, and enjoys running round and getting under his parents' feet. He is currently in Dragons Keep, visiting with his father, who is a mid-weight for the Air Marshals.

Picture:

baby_nizbit.jpg

The Army

The Dragon Masters Army is like any other in that it is a military force, with a number of squadrons etc, however it is also different in some ways. The Army has for main sections: the Air Marshals(flying units), Infantry, Cavalry and Siege Weapons. Each of these sections is headed by a single general, with one of them acting as the Commanding Officer. The four generals always consult each other on their plans, and it is up to the commander to ensure that all the sections act in each others interests. This group of four men is called the Supreme Command (as a point of historical note, during the great war, there were in fact five in this group, with the four generals plus Dragonator acting as the Supreme Commander). Each section has it's own plumes; yellow for the Air Marshals, Red for the Infantry (which also covers the Kingdoms Messengers), blue for the Cavalry and white for the Siege Weapons. More information on ranks and squadrons etc will come at a later date. Below are the three generals you have not meet yet:

General Gillious is the commander of the Infantry. He is a jolly old chap and has been in the post for years, serving under Dragonator during the great war. Always good a t dinner parties, he is a great man to visit the local pub with, although it would be unwise to try and out-drink him. When it comes to war, however, he is right down to business, no jokes accepted. He has proven himself countless times on the battlefield as a tactical genius, and is very good at looking at the lay of the land and finding points of strategic importance etc.

Picture: Will be added shortly

General Spencer is the commander of the Cavalry. He is an obnoxious and disdainful man, like most cavalry officers, and thinks his section is far more important than any other. This partly comes from him being born into a very rich aristocratic family, the Mandrigol's. Despite his first appearances, he is a loyal friend, and if not so good with tactics as some, he can very easily contribute to the overall scheme of things with his immense knowledge of horses and cavalry formations. He is also a very good judge of character, and likes a brandy before bed. He has been in his post for a long while and also served under Dragonator during the great war. Unlike with most people, he has a huge amount of respect for Dragonator, and the pair enjoy sitting and talking about horses.

Picture: Will be added shortly

General Andrew is the commander of the Siege section. He is very young for the job, only 27, and has only held the post since last year, after the death of General Nim, who chose Andrew as his replacement not long before he died. General Andrew is a nervous young man, and is known to stutter when hegets excited, especially over those things he is passionate about, namely siege and weapons. Before becoming the general he was a Siege engineer, as it was noticed early on that he had tremendous talent in designing these weapons. He joined the 4th Siege Battalion the year before the war as a trebuchet operator; by the end of the war he had been promoted to a second lieutenant in the battalion. He knows his work, and can have a custom weapon designed and built for a city wall in less than a week. As a hobby he is developing another siege weapon, which he refuses to tell anyone about. He is nicely accepted by the other three generals, and his opinion is respected, although Spencer often attempts to disregard him because of his youth and lack of social skills. The other two generals thick of him as a nephew, especially Gillious.

Picture: Will be added shortly

That concludes Part 3. I don't know when Part 4 will be coming, but be sure it will help explain anything people may be confused about, as well as some new characters. If you have managed to read all this so far, I am impressed!

UPDATED with Additional Infomation and Pics

Aluvar, current and a year ago with the birds, in his old lab. He's changed clothes since then, but still has that same old hat and long beard. Hasn't aged a day.

aluvar.jpg - aluvarslab.jpg

Crown Kingdom (K-18/19)

The King: Tiberius Lionheart

His wife, Alvena, died a year ago of an unknown illness. He has always blamed himself, despite having done all he could, summoning the best care possible, including Aluvar involving the entire League of Wizards, of which Alvena was secretly the head.

The King's three sons, Rangdar, Leith and Krant were raised in the safety and comfort of his protection and wealth, becoming weak and spoiled. They fight constantly, often about who will be named King upon the death of their father. Leith and Krant have a gambling and blackmail problem. Rangdar often visits his aunt, the Countess Ravenia.

Rangdar

rangdor.jpg

The King's daughter, Alysta, took after her mother and is full of spirit and independence. She is well travelled and an experienced fighter, as well as a passable magician, having studied with Aluvar informally during her childhood. She carries a magical sword.

Alysta (Alyss): When not travelling in disguise.

alyss.jpg

The King maintains a small council of advisors.

Holcroft and Parn, who have served him for many years and are above reproach.

One more recent addition to the council, Vrend, saved the King from an assassination attempt.

The extended royal family:

Duke Holgar: Younger brother of the King. Bit of a bumbler and not particularly bright, but good natured and kind.

Countess Ravenia: Dark and brooding sister of Alvena who always thought that she should be Queen. Spends her days ordering her staff around and generally being disagreeable.

Elgarth: Eldest son of Duke Holgar, nephew of the King. Royal Knight entrusted with overseeing castle security.

Nhear and Fhar: Young sons of Duke Holgar, nephews of the King. 10yr old twins who spend most of their days playing in the royal gardens.

Grandoth: Royal coachman and skilled warrior who previously served as a crown messenger. Distinguished himself in the same assassination attempt that earned Vrend his council position.

Grandoth: When not travelling in disguise.

grandoth.jpg

Flangdor: Evil wizard whose sudden appearance in Crown Kingdom can't be a good sign. Has a long-standing feud/competition with Aluvar, but had always been too inept to be any real challenge. It is unclear if that is still the case. Aligned with whomever he thinks can do him the most good. No true loyalties except to himself.

Wernst: King's Guard. Trusted member of the Royal Guard. Personally ordered to follow Flangdor, then worked with Bluervo to discover the truth about his disappearance. Given a drug to erase his recent memory, he doesn't remember any of this.

Wernst

wernst.jpg

Castle Town (K-19)

Barth: Bookseller.

Hygand: Herb and potion seller.

Lorndt: Information broker. Knows what's going on, often before it happens. Can be found in a dark corner of The Cork and Crown Pub.

Larissa: Busty barmaid of The Cork and Crown Pub. Why did I add that detail? Why not?

Hi! I'm *hic* Purdon Sapstack. I don't merember when I was born. *hic* I'm a poop-smith. I pick up poop off the ground and make it into useful *hic* things like tools 'n stuff. God, I'm drunk. I'm a pure blood Knight's Kingdom peasant! ...I think, but I live with the dwarves for their great ale. My poop club is useful in bar room brawls; you won't get that smell out for weeks! Trolls are amazing when they get extra fiber.

Sorry, I'm just trying to be silly and ruin the fantasy world here. They pooped on the streets and died of plagues. I would not want to live in the Middle Ages. Castles rule though.

Name: Sir Oakley

Age: 28

Background: Once a famed general for the Bull Knights, Oakley decided to take his crusade to the forests, for resources. However, he is ambushed by the Dark Forest Bandits, a vile and sneaky group of thieves who kill both the rich and the poor, for profit. Sir Oakley had encountered the Forestmen clans in the forest further North, but these were treacherous- old castle parts wrenched from their original fortresses and made a part of the forest. Stripped of his rank and honour for his loss at the hands of petty thieves, he vowed to get revenge or die trying. His crusade to control the Lion Knights and stop the consistant undead attacks by the wizard turned into a crusade to liberate the entire world in the name of crime. Due to his knowledge of the enemy (he has snuck into every base by the will of the Bandit leader and has learnt vital military information), few dare to fight the bandits, and he has a knowledge of all weaponry (how to fight with and wield, from your average dagger to the Wand of the Crownie Wizard). Otherwise, he's a roguish thief, serving as a minor villain for the other characters of this world.

Recent events have called for some new concepts that I'll be using for a while, as well as a new character.

Cloyola and the Council of Five

Flangdor was married to Cloyola, a powerful wizard who currently fills a seat on the Council of Five, the select group that serves as advisors for the Regulator of the League of Wizards. Aluvar was formerly on the Council. It is unclear who has taken his seat since his promotion, or if it is currently unfilled. She hated Flangdor enough to want him dead at one point, but it's been 60 years, so she might not be quite as angry. Still, she may be. She did break his ... wand, after all.

Children of Destiny, The

Once thought to be a legend, it now appears to have at least some basis in fact. According to the legend, on certain days of certain years, children are born who are gifted with special powers, powers they are usually unaware of until such time as they are needed. In many cases, this never happens. These powers stay with them throughout their lives. It is thought that they could, when acting in unison, defeat any evil, no matter how large. Research will need to be conducted at the Grand Library of Sorcery.

Grand Library of Sorcery

These massive archives are located at Druth Castle. They hold the collected knowledge of spellcasting and magick, as well as volumes on history, music, art, and other studies, for all of recorded history.

Druth Castle

No one knows where it actually is, or how it got there. It's less a place and more a state of being. It is reached through a heavily guarded portal, also carefully hidden. It is the ancient headquarters of the League of Wizards and houses a massive armoury of enchanted weapons, as well as a small force of specially trained wizard knights.

Last Rites, The

Nickname for a specially trained force of wizard knights, armed with the finest of enchanted weapons and magically enhanced armour. So named for the fact that their appearance in a battle tends to result in last rites being performed on their enemies. Officially, they are referred to as the Defenders of Magick.

Inspired by my slightly off-topic rant in the EBRP, here's another character!

Name: Somnium Bowman

Age: Twenty-four.

Faction: Scorpion Knights

Class: Crossbowman

Equipment: Quiver, crossbow, standard Scorpion Knight uniform.

Background: Somnium came from humble beginnings, didn't do very well in school, and with all the propaganda around was convinced that the army was the best way to go. He had been taught from a young age that Morcia was bad and evil, they would steal your lunch money and throw you in garbage cans. He joined up at 19 after trying to save up for a cool sword for over a year but always frivolously spending his money away so he could never afford one. On his day of departure from home, his father gave him a grand sword, so that whenever he was in the midst of war, he could always remember his family.

When after a year in the army, he found he was a much better archer than swordsman, so he sold his sword for a flash new crossbow, which was just outdated again in a month by the Crossbow 9,000 (that's the silver model). He has so far been in the army for 5 years next week, has been taught that the Dragon Masters and all their allies are bad and evil, they would steal your women and children and throw you in pits of spikes. Also that dragons were big and evil and not at all just misunderstood. Being just another pawn of the Scorpion Knights, he believed all this, and is now fighting at The Ravine; Dromindur; Dragon Masters territory. He recently was hit in the helmet with a flying rock, dropped his bow into a river, and has retreated to get another.

Sorry about the lack of a grid and all of the colour, I'll try to change that later on...

The Orclands

Map-8copy.png

Kromskragg - The old Orc capital, bearing name to the mighty great Chief Krom, who captured the city and the region around it from the Wolfpack. After years of infighting and civil war, the city was left in ruin. Under the leadership of Great Chief Grimm, the capital was shifted South to a new founded city, Grimmshutt.

Fort Askragg - A mighty Orcish fort guarding the border between the Orcs and the Crown Kingdom and Wolfpack. The fortress has never before fallen to enemy hands.

Grimmshutt - A new, advanced capital, founded by the unifier of the Orclands, Great Chief Grimm. The city is very prosperous and modern (for an Orc), and home to merchants, nobles and of course the Great Chief himself, in his fortified palace.

The Southlands - A rowdy place, full of the most unpleasant of Orcs. Many Orcs come here to escape law, and to gamble, drink, womanise and fight. Many of the large towns in the Southlands are controlled by rivalling families, each vying for power and superiority over their neighbours. Aside from these most minor of drawbacks, the Southlands is home to many of the greatest Orcish sailors, most of whom originally came to these lands for reasons mentioned beforehand.

The Orcish Steppes - An empty and barren land which has yet to be tamed by the folk of the Orclands. Those who inhabit the land are fierce nomadic tribes, all of them with dreams of one day conquering the entire area.

East Gobblokh - A simple region speckled with small villages across the countryside. While there is still much tribal warfare about this area, this is perhaps one of the more peaceful parts of the Orclands, though that is not saying much. It's position near the Lands of the Undead means that Orcs from the West will often travel back and forth to make negotiations, and there are many trading posts, embassies and outposts scattered about this region.

Trollkragg - The home to the much-feared Trolls, few Orcs dare venture here. Amongst the hills however are several clans of wild and savage Orcs, who have learned to live with the Trolls and are even able to speak to them. Because of this relationship, other Orcs often seek their help to tame the great beasts and use them in war.

Name: Adrick

Type: Human

Alignment: Light

Age: Unknown

A white priest living in Black Knights territory, Adrick of the White Wilderness is considered more of a legend than reality, sometimes appearing out of nowhere to offer his services, then disappearing as quickly as he came. He is often described as wearing white robes decorated with a circle containing nine smaller circles on it's right shoulder. The meaning of this is unclear to most.

Has known Aluvar for a very long time. A VERY long time.

While it hasn't been revealed yet, he is the 4th member of the Council of Five that we have met.

Are you keeping track of all of them?

He carries a talisman to aid in his efforts.
