[OL - Ship] Le Marion

Recommended Posts

Fresh from the docks is Le Marion, a trading vessel. The captain's cabin has a small bed and desk. There's enough room in the hold for cargo, and while there are no cannons, I'm sure a crew can be hired that's firece enough to defend her.

Some behind the scenes stuff about this ship. I've had the hulls and columns and masts for years, since I started building another ship years ago. I wasn't too sure on what to build. Then a bit after that, I got scores of yellow 1x4s and red 1x4s in a Pick-A-Brick cup from my local LEGO store. Those had been sitting for awhile, and maybe in December or possibly last summer I started piecing something together off and on when I came back from college. I finally finished her over the course of the past few days. She's a little ugly, but I'm proud of what turned up.

The cargo space is huge! The figurehead is beautiful. I like how you managed to curve the hull.

If I were you, I'll not worry too much about its armament, since we have quite decent escort now. If the aggressors can beat our escort, they should also be able to overwhelm feable defense of merchant vessels.

Thank you! The stern was a bit of a challenge and I actually ran out of yellow slopes after I finished.

And good thing our convoys are strong. Needs to protect all the cargo this one ship has.

Nice one, especially the way you widened the hull and its colorful theme :classic: If I were you (and had the respective bricks), I would have continued that dark gray line (the one the prefabs have) and would have added some rudimentary sails. Even paper sails do the trick as far as we have all noticed. Nevertheless our Navy grows strong at a steady pace and this is something we definitely need

You're right, I should've continued that gray line. I never even thought about it, and I know I have the pieces for it. Last time I made sails, I used garbage bags , so I think I'll upgrade the next ship to at least paper. I do have to thank CGH though for the widening of the hull; it's a modified version of his build-a-frigate tutorial.
