Where to buy black ribbon cable?

Recommended Posts

I want to know where to buy the type of wire Lego uses in PF parts, I can only find grey IDC ribbon cable (see below).

I need it to be black to replace some worn out wire on some of my PF parts.

Has anyone ever found a matching type of wire/cable?

Thanks :classic:.

Go to a PC shop near you and ask if they have some ATA- or SCSI-cables they plan to dump (or nobody is willing to buy anymore ). Cut those to get 4 wires in a row and you're set.

Not sure if they ship to Australia but found this on Amazon UK, the manufacturer is based in China so may have an outlet in you neck of the woods

Again, it is not the right type of (ribbon) cable that can be split easily.

Check out this datasheet.

Also I don't like buying from Amazon.

But ATA and SCSI cables are not made with black ribbon cable.

There have been loads of companies producing Parallel ATA cables in black, like Asus, Acer and others too. I have 3 computers in the basement with pure black PATA *and* Floppy cables too. (Yeah, Floppy cables are the same ribbon types, so you could use those as well)

That looks better, I might get that.

I actually found exactly the right cable today, It is black and has 19 strands inside it (normally 7), which is the same number as the Lego wire! But it is WAY too expensive, AUD $16.46 for 1 meter of 6-way, plus AUD $12.95 for shipping! :cry2:
