Now that we are all here I agree we should depart.  We have a long journey before us to reach the Mopag.

The Party was off over hill over dale
Their hearts were quite merry, they never could fail

No monsters beset them, no robbers did rob
No trouble did find them, no squabblers did squab

For six days of travel with nary a peep
Till over the bluff came a town near asleep

31829329701_a356180d6b_c.jpg

Then down to the village our heroes descended
There were presents to find and good people defended

A light did shine bright from the sole tavern's door
Where a song did come forth and a good fire roar

The place was a picture of merry and cheer
For all had a flagon of wine or of beer

The green giant ducks through the doorway and makes his way gingerly into the human sized room. He thankful as always for the prevalence of high ceilings, and wary of the flaming wagon wheels being used to light the interior.  He crouches at the bar and nods to the barkeep.

Your welcome is greatly appreciated sir.  The road was indeed long and dreary.  If you have a tankard large enough that I will survive the experience I would have a Flaming Gumball.

He slides the five gold across the bar with a fingertip.

Matthias joins Half-Born at the bar for a high-low effect. "Same here, same size," he says to the bartender as he tenders 5 gold coins onto the bar. "Anything interesting happening here tonight?"

"I think I have somethin' that'll do."

The bartender hands the paladin a giant tankard nearly the size of a small tree stump.

"Here ya go. Been a somewhat rowdy night, we're one of the last businesses open on this evening what with the festivities and all."

Both Vindsval and Matthias feel a certain degree of Comradery with each other.

After taking my drink, I offer Nerwen 5 gold in case she intended to pay all at once for the sake of convenience and not as a kindness.
"Rowdy? I hope the business it makes is worth the trouble."

"Ah, Mr. Leseig, that's him right over there." The man points out an elderly Mopag hanging near one of the tables and gestures him over.

"We get an ogre or two every once and while in here, never hurts to be prepared."

At this point a muffled clatter comes from the back room behind the bar.

"Excuse me a moment."

The Mopag whom the bartender had pointed out joins the Party.

"At least my mother paid for some manners," the gnome mumbles under his breath as he turns back to the rest of the party and their erstwhile employer.

"Delightful and your names are? You'll have to forgive me I had an assistant pick you all."

Just now, Asphalt said:

I am Vindsval.

"I am called Matthias," he introduces himself with a small tip of his large hat.

"Thalion Dwinlas, at your service mister Leseig." Thalion says with a slight bow. "Tell me, how may we be of assistance to you?"

While waiting for the answer, he hears the clatter from the back of the bar, "Excuse me, but would you happen to hear that noise from behind the bar?"

"Well met, all of you. And yes, it's this business about this green monster that's been creeping about at night around the village. As I'm sure you're aware the Grogmas season is one filled with gift giving, decorating, and all kinds of merriment."

The sound of a clay pot being broken in the back room can be heard from the bar.

"This year, miracle of miracles, the good folk of the settlement woke up not but a week or two ago with gifts under their trees and tinsel strewn about the town that they hadn't put there! And what gifts! Little mechanical wonders, birds that sing and flutter, little toy soldiers that march about, mechanical fish that will swim in the water if you put them in a bowl! It's as if Grog himself had visited!"

Preferring to let the party leader handle client contact, and beginning to be annoyed by the ruckus, Matthias raises his eyebrows to Dwinlas and gives a pointed look behind the bar, then heads that direction to see what's going on, hoping the other hero would join him.

I cast a glance at Vindsval.

"I am Monk Pretzel, an Artisan of Heroica."

Matthias heads for the back room.

"A pleasure. Where was I? Oh yes, a Grogmas miracle! Well it wasn't long before we were in turn set upon by a dreadful curse! The green monster sneaked into our village and began stealing away all of our amazing presents. Can you imagine the despair among the boys and girls to have been amazed by such wonders and have them simply disappear the next morning. It wasn't until a week ago that folks started spotting the miscreant sneaking about the place."

"Sounds like automatons to me. It could be for the best that they're removed..." I mutter to myself, then ask Leseig. "This creature...did you actually catch him stealing the presents?"

I'm still not sure what job trait to copy. I was thinking perhaps Paragon's "Initiative" or "Aura of Honour." Otherwise, perhaps just "Restoration" or something.

Other things I thought of were Skirmishers' "Assistance" or Alchemist's "Instant Items." Any ideas party?

QM Note: All I'll request is that you have something picked before the first battle.

"Little Lindy Cou had a face to face encounter with the thing three nights ago, I can take you all to see her if you'd like. She can tell you the whole story."

Give a call if you have need.

That would be best I think.

Vindsval looks between his remaining companions.

Shall we meet with the child?
